Some of what our valued clients have to say
From Kate NDTF Course 41
Claude’s training methodology is backed up by scientific facts, it’s down to basics and the training is clear, consistent and simple for people to do.
He has a non-conventional approach to training – rewards don’t have to be food treats (food based rewards is what so many training centres practice). The reward for my dog is actually me. Simple but such a revelation and makes so much sense. So now I’m working on unravelling the old food reward system and although it takes time, I’m already starting to see the benefits and building a better bond with my dog.
Another simple tip - play with your dog.... don’t take it so seriously that the play disappears and it’s not fun anymore. That’s what I did and didn’t realise it until Claude pointed it out…..in the nicest possible way. That was the best thing that happened as Java and I play again now and not only are we enjoying ourselves again, the training is getting better and easier.
The classes at K9-IQ are not heeling patterns around an oval but are about putting you and your dog in different scenarios which you would encounter day to day. Much more fun, challenging and most importantly practical.
Training dogs is clearly a passion for Claude and the team at K9-IQ and the satisfaction in educating people is obvious. Having patience and taking the time to explain the “why” to people so they understand the methods, adds so much value to the training.
From John and Lisa
At the time when Heidi the DOBIWEILER (Doberman x Rottweiler) came into our lives we searched and found a training school and paid our dues. Unfortunately this business folded leaving many student dog handlers out of pocket and nowhere to study.
After five months or so we heard of K-9iq, we corresponded by email and attended a meet and greet session. This has proved to be the best decision we have made. We cannot speak highly enough of the training personnel. They are first class, on occasion giving ‘one on one’ guidance.
With K-9iq, dogs may attend Puppy Class then travel through Basic Training, Intermediate Level and on to Advanced Class. The newly established Elite Class is a boon for those who have passed through the advanced level and wish to bring their dogs to a higher level of competence.
A further inclusion started recently is the course which teaches Tricks and Complex Skills.
Heidi has improved tremendously since attending this school. We are extremely satisfied with the group of instructors and would recommend K-9iq to anyone seeking dog training professionals.

To Claude & All the Crew at K9iQ,
I just want to let you know how extremely happy and gracious Alex, Darth, Chanel and I are for everything you have taught us over the years. You ALL have been so unbelievably wonderful in every aspect and facet of the dog obidence training world.
When ADT closed down, Alex, Darth, Chanel & I were devastated, not only for us, but also for the wonderful, innocent trainers who were left without a job they loved. We found another so called dog school on the other side of Berwick. It was at this unskilled, incompetent, inefficient, disappointing, unsafe, mordacious, amateur, unprofessional, poor excuse they proclaim to call a dog school, that my baby, Chanel was nearly mauled to death by another dog attending the same school. That pathetic school did nothing! My baby girl was bleeding and it was the worst experience our family had ever endured in our lives. We found out that Chanel was not the first dog this dog had attacked at this so called “school”. It wasn’t even muzzled! Just for the record, I don’t blame the dog, I blame the idiot school and idiot owner! From this horrid, near fatal experience, Chanel developed a major attitude problem. I had no idea how she was ever going to overcome this traumatic experience.
It’s now been over a year I think since you opened and the four of us could not be any happier with K9iQ. Darth just loves going to school. He wouldn’t be the well behaved, disciplined, beautiful, sweet natured doggy that he is today if it wasn’t for you all. He loves everyone and everyone loves him. And Chanel has just come so far. All the trainers have gone above and beyond there jobs in every aspect to help Chanel with ALL her issues. After that horrid dog attack on her, no one could go near her. She would run, shake, growl and hide. Now she walks around sniffs not only other dogs but also people! Her progress has been amazing and that’s only because of the outstanding commitment that the trainers have had in helping her overcome her fears e.g. Steve, practically sitting on the ground for a couple of minutes every Saturday with food in his hands for weeks on end and patiently waiting for her to go up to him and take the food from him. This isn’t normal obedience procedure taking food from other people, but you all had to design a way to increase Chanel’s confidence again, and it worked. You educated the other members of K9iQ about Chanel and they all listened to you and allowed her to walk up to them and sniff them at her leisure. Amazing, that’s what all you trainers are!
I kid you not, the moment we say, “PUPPY SCHOOL” to Darth & Chanel, they start going crazy. They get so excited! It’s the highlight of their week. They’re in that car so fast, and when we’re driving, they know exactly where we are going.
Okay so one thing we didn’t expect was the fact you have taught both Alex and I how to be better parents/owners to our babies. You have educated us in a manner that I guess has saved our dogs lives. You not only train the pooches, but you train the humans. And ssshhh, don’t tell Darth & Chanel this, but Alex and I love going to K9iQ just as much as they do.
For me personally you have woken me up and shown me that Chanel was not the only one affected by the dog attack. Apparently I was too and this was affecting my behaviour towards Chanel & Darth. I was babying them and ridiculously over protecting them, which of course affected them in a negative way.
So thank you for helping me too.
Your years of experience, expertise and professionalism with dog obedience are the best in Australia and I’m pretty sure the world. You have made us better parents and our puppy dogs well behaved, loving, obedient and most importantly HAPPY dogs. You have all helped so many owners and puppy’s in more ways than you know. I have seen owners bring there dogs to K9iQ and there in tears because there dogs are extremely aggressive and they don’t want to put them down. I have watched you all take the owners and doggies aside and today the owners and dogs have done a 100% turn around. The aggressive dogs are now playful happy dogs and the owners are amazed and extremely grateful. You have saved so many doggies’ lives and a lot of families from heart break. You are all truly amazing.
The different between your Obedience school and the others is
- K9iQ have many, many years of experience
- Your professionalism is second to none!
- Your expertise and the on going training you all do, shows your passion and commitment to your jobs.
- K9iQ are committed to turning bad dogs good and saving their lives!!
- K9iQ has highest standards when it comes to safety
- Most importantly ALL your trainers have a genuine passion, love and respect for all animals. From personal experience I know that K9iQ is the only School where the trainers, train from there heart. This can’t be taught it has to be in you. It’s in all of the K9iQ trainers.
I just want to let you know that we are truly thankful and we acknowledge everything you have done for the four of us. I’m also looking in to how I nominate K9iQ for the accolade: small business award. You all deserve to win! We are so gracious and thankful and we appreciate all the hard work, compassion and commitment you & your fabulous team have given to us.
Cheers Andrea & Alex Anagnostopoulos
And a big happy
From Darth & Chanel
To Claude and the team,
I love dogs and I always enjoyed dog training. For many years I have been training with ADT and that was great! So when they closed I was very happy when K-9iQ opened, that was because most of the trainers and staff I knew where there I knew they where one of the best. I tried different training schools but let's face it the professional knowledge and care you provide is outstanding.
Bruce gets nuts when I take the backpack for dog training. He knows we are going and gets so excited. He loves to see the dogs, the people and do the training, he knows he gets lots of pats for doing well.
People stop me in the streets of Healesville and compliment me on Bruce's good behaviour asking me where do I go for training. When I tell them at Berwick, they say - gee that is a long way to go -. I don't mind at all because you can always count on the best training, you and your dog learn new things all the time. It's a friendly and happy atmosphere and the trainers do help with whatever problem you and/or your dog may have. That's the difference to other dog training places, you can't get the professional help and advice. It's that dedication I admire and you won't find that anywhere else.
So thank you K-9iQ Team, there is no doubt you are the best there is.
From your passionate dog lover Marina.
Our Lucy came to us as a troubled 9 week old puppy.
We promptly fell in love with her but as the months went by, we found ourselves with a very difficult dog to manage.Walking Lucy had become a major undertaking and consisted of her pulling hard for the entire walk and violently lunging to bark at any other dogs we encountered. She also darted out of any opened door to run madly into the street, ducking and weaving to avoid being caught (she loved this 'game' ) Not only was this extremely annoying but so, so dangerous for our difficult but much loved girl.
Clearly we needed some help!Lucy was a year old in mid 2012 when we turned up to Berwick K9IQ with a very excited and noisy Lucy. The trainers were so welcoming and understanding of her problems, I knew we had come to the right place. As time went by and we came to 'dog school' each week, it became clear that Lucy wasn`t a difficult dog.....she just didn't know how to behave!
The trainers at K9IQ provided the skills required to teach Lucy in a way that she would understand. With persistence and a consistent approach, the improvement was almost instant. We passed 'Basic' class in October that same year and then passed 'Intermediate' by the following March. We have now been in 'Advanced' class for several weeks and not only does Lucy love it, but she has transformed into a very obedient girl who is a pleasure to have around and beautifully behaved on walks!
We are now enjoying our dog to the fullest and feel confidant to take her anywhere. If you love your dog and want to get the best from him while having a lot of fun.... then K9IQ is definately the place to go.
Finally, a big Thank You to Claude and all of the trainers who do such a fantastic job each and every week.
Sue Caithness and Lucy
To Claude and all the K9iQ trainers,
I wanted to let you know what an absolute pleasure it is to have found you!!
Thank you so much for all playing a part in helping to enrich Max’ and my life.
I first heard about you through my son’s girlfriend Jane. She and her gorgeous poodle Humphrey had come to you for their first time 6 months ago. They both enjoyed themselves so much that I decided to go along the following week just to observe.
Well I was sold!! I loved it. The atmosphere was fantastic.
The four of us have been attending every Saturday since. My friends and family all know I’m definitely not available for anything on Saturday mornings.
Every week you are all bursting with enthusiasm and passion to help us build closer relationships with our dogs. Thank you for giving the encouragement each dog/owner team needs to grow according to their specific needs and situation.
You have an amazing ability to get anything across in a fun, entertaining, lighthearted, caring manner.
I love that even when we are training seriously there is always lots of fun and laughter.
Max will be 13 years old in a few months. He has had fear/aggression issues with other dogs since he was 2 years old. Due to many “incidents” in the past I became too scared to deal with the problem, so we simply avoided all dogs. I knew this was a very negative action to take but without good support I felt powerless.
Up until that life changing day when I came to observe at K9iQ, I thought that was the way we had to live which was very sad. But how our lives have changed. Now I’m filled with such pride and happiness as I confidently say to max “drop” then walk away, leaving him amongst a group of dogs all doing the same thing, just incredibly rewarding.
It really does show that it is NEVER too late to make changes for a happier, more fulfilling and content life with your dog friend, even if he is in his senior years.
